Enable NumLock on system start-up Ubuntu

To enable numlock at each system start-up, we need to install an aplication called numlockx:

sudo apt-get install numlockx

Now we need to make a script to run at each system start-up. Run this in terminal:

sudo gedit /etc/init.d/numlockon

Enter the followings:

#!/bin/bash
numlockx on

Save it and make it executable:

sudo chmod +x /etc/init.d/numlockon

Add the script to system start-up:

sudo update-rc.d /etc/init.d/numlockon defaults

Thank you for this clear cut explanation of how to do this. Lately I have been changing distro's alot and have had to look up how to do it each time because of the previous procedures.
