Install verlihub from source on Ubuntu 9.10

As Debian packages are old and not supported from http://www.verlihub-project.org, you need to install Velihub from source. We will install VerliHub 0.9.8e-r2.

Update repositories list:

sudo apt-get update

Install the libraries needed by verlihub, which includes mysql server. Don't worry if you already have them:

sudo apt-get install build-essential mysql-server libmysqlclient15-dev libpcre3-dev geoip-bin libgeoip-dev g++-4.3

If it installed mysql server, it will ask you for a root password, write it down or remember it. We will need it later.

Download verlihub (source):

wget http://sourceforge.net/projects/verlihub/files/Verlihub/0.9.8e-r2/verlihub-0.9.8e-r2.tar.gz/download

Download LUA 5.1.4:

wget http://www.lua.org/ftp/lua-5.1.4.tar.gz

Download Lua plugin 1.8.1:

wget http://sourceforge.net/projects/verlihub/files/VH_Lua/1.8.1/lua-1.8.1.tar.gz/download

Now we untar those 3 files downloaded:

tar zxvf verlihub-0.9.8e-r2.tar.gz

tar zxvf lua-5.1.4.tar.gz

tar zxvf lua-1.8.1.tar.gz

Change directory to compile verlihub:

cd verlihub-0.9.8e-r2

sudo ./configure

sudo make

sudo make install

sudo make clean

Change directory to compile Lua-5.1.4:

go up one directory (out of the verlihub directory):

cd ..

cd lua-5.1.4

sudo apt-get install libncurses5-dev libreadline5-dev

sudo make linux

sudo make install

Change directory to compile Lua Plugin:

cd ..

cd lua-1.8.1

sudo ./configure

sudo make

sudo make install

Now it's time to compile verlihub. We need to do su (this will authenticate as root). if you don't have a password for the root account, you can set it up:

sudo passwd root

After this we go su:

su

It will ask us the root password we just setup or the one we already had. After this you will have in terminal root@user-desktop.

cd /root

ldconfig

vh_install

You will be asked some questions:

1. Your name ? (root) ==>>>> ( hit enter )
2. mysql database for verlihub will be called? (verlihub) ==>>>> ( hit enter )
3. password to access verlihub be? (1236571269) ==>>>> ( hit enter after setting up some password )
4. mysql server will run where? (localhost) ==>>>> ( hit enter )
5. is this info correct ? (Y/N ) ==>>>> hit Y
6. do you want to create database (Y/N) ==>>>> (hit Y if you're setting it up for the first time or you made a clean install)
7. mysql administrator username ? (root ) ==>>>> ( hit enter if the user for your mysql server is root, otherwise enter it (the password entered when we have installed mysql server). )
8. what is will be the configuration folder ? (etc/verlihub) ==>>>> ( hit enter )
9. Do you want to continue eith these settings .. (Y/N) ==>>>> ( hit Y )
10. Give me your DC hub master nick name....([SU]root) ==>>>> (we write the account of hub admin, eg. Master)
11. Choose your password.. (1246571269) ==>>>> (password of our hub admin)
12. Which will be default ONE hub port number ? (411) ==>>>> ( hit enter if you don't need to change it, otherwise enter a port number, eg. 6969)
13. what will be your hub hostname? ==>>>> ( here you need to run your hostname adress (domain name where verlihub server is installed), eg. internet.myftp.org )
14. Give me the name of your hub (hub of root) ==>>>> ( eg. The coolest hub ever )
15. is this info corect ? Y/N ==>>>> (hit Y and then enter )

Now the verlihub installation from source on Ubuntu 9.10 is complete.

exit as root:
exit

You can run verlihub by typing:
sudo vh_runhub

En tapant cette commande:
sudo apt-get install build-essential mysql-server libmysqlclient15-dev libpcre3-dev geoip-bin libgeoip-dev g++-4.3

dans le terminal ubuntu 12.04, pour verlihub, j'obtient sa:

Lecture des listes de paquets... Fait
Construction de l'arbre des dépendances
Lecture des informations d'état... Fait
Note : sélection de « libmysqlclient-dev » au lieu de « libmysqlclient15-dev »
Aucune version du paquet g++-4.3 n'est disponible, mais il existe dans la base
de données. Cela signifie en général que le paquet est manquant, qu'il est devenu obsolète
ou qu'il n'est disponible que sur une autre source

E: Le paquet « g++-4.3 » n'a pas de version susceptible d'être installée
